Human Resources AssistantChampaign Park District – Part-Time, Non-Exempt (not to exceed 19 hours per week on average)


About the Job:The Human Resources Assistant plays a key role in supporting our team by assisting with hiring, onboarding, and HR operations. This position helps ensure smooth processes for employees and volunteers while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality. You’ll gain valuable experience in HR functions while contributing to a positive and welcoming workplace.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support the full hiring process, from screening candidates to sending offer letters
  • Coordinate interviews and assist hiring managers with seasonal and part-time recruitment
  • Lead onboarding and orientation for new hires, including background checks and paperwork
  • Maintain accurate employee and volunteer records in HRIS and file systems
  • Represent the Park District at job fairs, volunteer fairs, and recruitment events
  • Support volunteer onboarding and recordkeeping in volunteer management software
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality, safety, and equal opportunity policies
  • Perform other HR and administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; OR two years of related administrative or HR experience. 
  • Ability to work responsibly with confidential material. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn and use HRIS software. Excellent personal communication skills both written and verbal 
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision. 
  • Ability to work on weekends and evenings as necessary. 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
