Sports Site Manager

Champaign Park District - Part-time 2 (not to exceed 19 hours per week) or Seasonal (not to exceed six months), Non-Exempt


About the Job:
As a Sports Site Manager, you’ll play an important role in ensuring that Champaign Park District sports complexes, leagues, and programs run smoothly and safely. In this hands-on, people-focused position, you’ll oversee staff, maintain facilities, manage cash handling, and provide excellent service to patrons—all while fostering a fun, welcoming environment for participants and spectators alike.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Oversee sports site operations during assigned shifts
  • Supervise and support Sports Site Workers
  • Ensure a safe and clean facility environment, including pre-game equipment checks and minor maintenance
  • Accurately maintain records for cash handling, deposits, inventory, and reports
  • Enforce Park District policies and procedures courteously and effectively
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding facility needs, incidents, or concerns
  • Respond professionally in high-pressure situations involving large crowds or conflicts
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including trash removal and restroom upkeep
  • Complete reports for accidents, incidents, or other issues promptly

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public.
  • Knowledge of sports and scorekeeping practices.
  • Experience leading and supervising staff (preferred).
  • Understanding of basic accounting and cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to calculate cash transactions and make change accurately.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
