Summary 

The Facility Attendant oversee equipment setup, safety, policy enforcement, and facility cleanliness. Promptly addresses patron needs, reports maintenance issues, and assists in staff training for a positive recreational experience. This role involves overseeing facility activities and ensuring a safe environment, with the flexibility to work at various Park District locations.  


Qualifications 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public 
  • Available evenings and weekends upon request 

Supervision 

The Facility Attendant reports to the Membership Facilities Manager and reports to the Facility Supervisor on shift. 


Classification 

  • Non-exempt, hourly 
  • Part-time 2 (not to exceed 19 hours per week) 

Training – Can be obtained through Champaign Park District  

  • First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification 
  • Heads Up Concussion training 
  • Mandated reporter training 
  • Harassment prevention training 
  • Bloodborne pathogen training 
  • Facility training 

Essential Functions 

  • Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, fellow employees. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons.  
  • Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times. 
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment before and after scheduled activities and rentals 
  • Uphold safety measures and protocols.  
  • Complete incident/accident reports promptly, adhering to Park District guidelines, and communicate incidents to supervisors as required. 
  • Enforce Park District policies and procedures to maintain an orderly recreational space. 
  • Regularly inspect equipment and supplies, promptly reporting any maintenance needs to the supervisor. 
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized facility to enhance the overall visitor experience. 
  • Adhere to the Park District dress policy consistently. 
  • Monitor the facility during events, rentals, and open gym sessions to ensure a smooth operation. 
  • Provide assistance to patrons, addressing their needs and expeditiously resolving any issues that may arise. 
  • Assist in the training of new employees, offering guidance and support as needed. 
  • Conduct tours of the gym and facilities for interested parties. 
  • Responsible for opening and closing the gym and facilities as per the designated schedule.

Physiological Consideration 

  • Requires strength and endurance for equipment setup/breakdown and manual tasks. 
  • Skilled handling of equipment and basic maintenance tasks. 
  • Clear communication and customer-oriented approach for patron assistance. 
  • Adaptable to varied locations, schedules, and situations during events and facility operations. 

Environmental Consideration  

  • May be exposed to all weather conditions.
