About the Team
AeroTEC’s Flight Test Center provides operational and facility requirements to support Fabrication, Aircraft Maintenance, Quality, Flight Test Instrumentation Installation & removal, and site safety (EH&S/SMS). The Flight Test Center is responsible for providing resources and facilities for aircraft maintenance, quality, manufacturing, instrumentation installation and equipment to support customer requirements.
About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for determining and selecting the proper tools, designing tooling/fixtures and developing process requirements to support manufacturing and modification activities. This involves planning parts and assemblies to be manufactured for flight test and wind tunnel models per engineering requirements and working closely with Design Engineers, Purchasing and Machine Operators to help manage products through the production process. This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.
In This Role You Will
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to determine the most efficient, cost-effective, and high quality methods to produce parts and assemblies using machine tools or design modifications to meet customer requirements.
- Create sequence of operations for all assigned parts and assemblies (CNC Programmer role) including planning the job throughout the manufacturing process and sequencing operations on machine tools.
- Order all material, tooling, and cutters for the job.
- Create proper sequencing and planning for the manufacturing, assembly and installation processes.
- Support scheduling, sequencing, build plans, cost/schedule tracking, and configuration control throughout the manufacturing process.
- Provide documentation to shop floor
- Serve as technical modification leader for manufacturing, assembly, installation, and wiring activities.
- Provide hands-on support for aircraft modification, including shop-level integration and coordination at the aircraft level.
- Demonstrate strong fluency in interpreting and applying wire diagrams in support of electrical and avionics modifications.
- Support flight test engineering activities, including integration, modification, and trouble shooting of flight test systems.
- Trouble shoot and resolve part issues or program issues at the machine working with Machine Operators and QA. May include drawing interpretation and resolving process problems or tooling problems.
- Use outside resources when needed (e.g. heat treat, stress relieve, grinding, gun drill, edm, 3d printing, tool grinding, cutter ordering).
- Special projects and tasks assigned by Group Lead.
