The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Carpet Tech serves as a strategic financial leader across all company divisions as well as other affiliated businesses owned by the company's founder. This role is responsible for driving the overall financial strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability, and enabling scalable growth across a diverse portfolio. The CFO oversees financial planning, cash flow management, forecasting, and risk mitigation while providing clear, data-driven insights to guide executive decision-making. As a key member of the leadership team, the CFO plays a critical role in shaping strategic direction, driving growth and results, and ensuring financial discipline. This position also leads talent development within the finance function, fosters operational excellence, and implements systems that support a high-performance culture. The ideal candidate combines sharp financial acumen with a collaborative leadership style and a hands-on approach to solving complex business challenges.
Financial Leadership + Strategy
- Serve as a strategic business partner to the Owner and leadership team, actively shaping company strategy and long-term planning.
- Partner with the company executives on all operational and financial strategic issues as a thought leader, providing recommendations and strategy that reduce operating costs, increase revenues, and facilitate enterprise growth.
- Drive enterprise-wide financial alignment, creating visibility into performance across all divisions. Engage other members of senior management to ensure all financial decisions and activities positively support company success and growth.
- Be an engaged, discerning voice in leadership meetings to effectively and confidently communicate how the finance function is supporting the business strategy and action steps to achieve key metrics.
- Develop a deep understanding of the operations, financial results, and continuous improvement measures to propose action plans which ensure that annual financial objectives are attained. Be the key advisor of the business partner through quality analysis.
Cash Management + Forecasting
- Maintain rigorous oversight of company cash flow, working capital, and liquidity across all divisions.
- Discern which business models, strategies, and processes enable the Company to optimize working capital practices and returns on capital employed.
- Manage bank relationships, debt and covenants, and investment strategies.
- Lead the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasting processes, including assisting in the development of corporate targets and gaining alignment with all stakeholders.
- Manage the P&Ls for each location to ensure the company meets and achieves external reporting guidance metrics and ensure leadership has visibility into risks and opportunities.
- Lead the cash management strategy and overall liquidity management. Actively manage the balance sheet to optimize the company's financial position.
Growth Architect
- Work with finance and accounting team leaders to translate business priorities into financial team programs, strategies, and initiatives that directly impact and enable company growth.
- Ensure that all finance activities are adding value to the company and supporting sustainable revenue growth.
- Ensure that the key financial performance indicators are in place and consistently measured to achieve alignment with the strategic plan and shareholder return.
- Direct the preparation of reports that outline the company's financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
Risk Management
- Ensure Carpet Tech maintains full compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements while optimizing tax strategies and organizational structural effectiveness.
- Maintain a well-documented trail of financial transactions in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate with legal and operations teams to assess financial liabilities and implement risk mitigation strategies in high-risk service areas.
- Maintain and monitor good internal controls to safeguard the assets of the organization and perform periodic audits on staff to verify they are being adhered to.
- Evaluate general accounting procedures to plan and implement strategy for insuring timely receipt of payment, reducing costs of accounting operations, and expediting flow of work.
Functional Optimization + Talent Management
- Develop and empower the finance team as a strong business partner to the organization.
- Model a growth mindset and lens of 'how we make it work' as the finance team interacts with both internal and external customers.
- Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, programs, and systems.
- Analyze division or department budget requests to identify areas where reductions can be made.
- Work with the finance and accounting team to present relevant financial information to company leadership, including financial reporting packages, cash management, working capital requirements, and tax liabilities.
- Support the profitable growth of the business through leadership of the financial organization along with annual growth initiatives approved during the annual planning process.
