Job Title: Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

The Position

Port Townsend Paper Company has an opening for an Electrical Engineer. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The Electrical Engineer's responsibilities will include capital projects, providing electrical engineering support when needed for troubleshooting or optimizing various systems throughout the mill and supporting the engineering department policies and procedures, occasionally assigned non-electrical capital projects within their capabilities.

Candidates should possess a thorough knowledge and experience in industrial power distribution and process control systems design and troubleshooting, have experience in all aspects of project management, and be an effective communicator throughout all levels of the operation.

Qualifications

Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting project managers for multi-discipline capital projects and leading electrical capital projects. The Electrical Engineer should be able to safely execute capital projects on time and on budget.
  • Project work includes gated project development, detailed design, and project execution phases.
  • The Electrical Engineer will support scope, cost, & schedule development, develop project design criteria, codes and standards, review electrical designs, work closely with mill internal resources and contracted engineering disciplines, construction management of electrical project work and final commissioning/turnover to Operations.
  • Analyze technical drawings, interpret specifications, and determine the electrical requirements of a given project.
  • Participate in engineering, design, and construction reviews.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, Maintenance department and Operations department to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections on electrical components supplied and installed for projects and maintenance department repairs/upgrades.
  • Diagnose electrical and process control problems and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Support the development of the engineering department policies and procedures pertaining to electrical design

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of industrial electrical power distribution and control systems.
  • Understanding of industrial process control systems
  • Understanding and experience with gated project management processes
  • Thorough understanding of electrical codes; NEC/NFPA 70, 70E, 70B, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of safety procedures typically found in an industrial environment (LOTO, Arc Flash, Hot Work, etc.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems of varying equipment vintage and condition.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and diagnostic skills.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial environment
  • Pulp and Paper experience is preferred.
  • Strong background in electrical power distribution, process control systems, and project management.
  • Experience with CAD software and MS Office preferred.

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Passed FE exam required, Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items over 20-25 pounds. Job function also requires working in a seated position and utilizing the computer keyboard for continuous periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will sometimes need to work near live electrical equipment and rotating machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed loud noise, dust, and fumes.

Employment Terms

  • Full-time, Exempt position
  • Salary range: $155,000-$190,000.
