Technical Arts Director

Scope: Leads all aspects of technical production to create an environment that facilitates worship and supports ministry events.

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday

Responsibilities

Leadership & Vision

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for all technical arts, including AVL systems, stage design and production technology.
• Collaborate with the Worship Team to help execute the vision for Sunday services, contributing to sound, lighting, stage layout, and overall worship experience.
• Actively participate in weekly worship planning meetings to align technical elements with service goals.

Creative & Technical Execution

• Lead stage design efforts, including lighting structure and visual aesthetics that enhance worship and teaching.
• Maintain, repair, and update all technical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Team Development

• Build and lead a production team composed of AVL staff and volunteers.
• Recruit, train, and guide the team toward excellence in creating worshipful environments.
• Coordinate scheduling of AVL personnel for Sunday services, ministry events, and outside groups.

Operations & Administration

• Manage the annual AVL budget, including forecasting, purchasing, and cost control.
• Perform administrative tasks such as billing, approving timecards, and scheduling technicians.
• Ensure all responsibilities are completed in a timely and professional manner.

Perform other job-related tasks as required

Requirements & Qualifications:

As a religious organization, all employees must affirm and adhere to the Church’s Doctrinal Statement of Faith and Statement on Marriage and Human Sexuality based upon its sincerely held religious beliefs, to qualify for involvement with the ministry. This is necessary to accomplish the Church’s religious mission, goals, and purpose.

• Strong leadership and team-building skills, especially with volunteers.
• Creative eye for stage design and visual storytelling.
• Technical proficiency in audio, video and lighting related equipment and software, including ProTools, Ableton Live or Logic Pro.
• Proficient in ProPresenter, Planning Center Online and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work collaboratively in ministry-focused environment.
• Budget management and administrative experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
