The Director of Marketing is responsible for the overall management of all Marketing operations for the Warm Springs Casino Enterprises (WSCE) which includes both Indian Head Casino (IHC) and the Plateau Travel Plaza (PTP).   The Marketing Director is a key strategic leader responsible for driving the brand vision, market growth, and guest engagement strategies for Warm Springs Casino Enteprises.  The position is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, control, communication, and supervision of all marketing, promotions, and entertainment venues designed to generate growth and maximize revenue and profit for WSCE. The Director of Marketing provides effective leadership and management to meet the long-term visions and missions of WSCE.  The Director of Marketing represents the company with the highest standard of professionalism and conduct in all interactions with the public, media, vendors, agencies, co-workers, and tribal leadership.

Qualifications

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive marketing strategies and annual marketing plans aligned with the business goals of the Warm Springs Casino Enterprise.
  • Create and monitor both short and long-range strategic plans to achieve enterprise objectives related to revenue, market share, and profitability.
  • Optimize digital marketing strategies including SEO, social media, website, and email campaigns.
  • Lead strategic branch development across all channels to ensure a consistent, culturally respectful identity aligned with the values of the Warm Springs Tribe.
  • Directs, administers, and coordinates all duties and functions of the Marketing Department.
  • Works with advertising agencies and other marketing vendors to develop and implement the innovative materials needed for WSCE’s promotional and advertising efforts. 
  • Plays the primary role in choosing, evaluating, directing, and interacting with all marketing partners, including the advertising agencies, printers, mail houses, designers, promotions companies. etc.
  • Lead cross-functional marketing projects such as new product launches, property enhancements, or branch repositioning efforts in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Lead internal communications and guest-facing promotional strategy support new offerings and reinforce brand positioning.
  • Forecast, develop, and manage the Marketing Department budget while maximizing profit opportunities and ensuring operations stay within fiscal guidelines.
  • Proposes capital Marketing projects and oversees the projects from submission and approval to completion.
  • Hosts events, promotional drawings, and slot tournaments as needed.
  • Represents WSCE at events and functions.  Serves as community liaison when needed.
  • Reviews and approves advertising campaigns including, but not limited to, television, radio, outdoor, print, direct mail, internet, and interior and exterior signage.
  • Conduct market and guest data analysis across platform and use insights to optimize campaigns and inform go-to market strategies.
  • Create and deliver analytics dashboards, marketing reports and executive summaries for leadership decision-making.
  • Oversee entertainment programming, including name talent and themed events, ensuring alignment with guest demographics and profitability goals.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of industry innovation, technology trends and competitive strategies to ensure marketing efforts build revenues, visitation, and profitability in a competitive marketplace.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of all advertising campaigns, promotions, and offerings, and implements necessary changes to achieve the optimal benefits based on market response and business needs.
  • Develop and implements promotional activities, giveaways, special events, tournaments and/or bus programs.
  • Ensures that advertising and promotional materials are distributed to staff, newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and other media in a timely manner.
  • Mentor and develop marketing staff by creating individual growth plans, fostering engagement and maintaining strength in key roles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.

 

Education, Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, Business Management, Communications, or another relevant field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Marketing or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and concepts, including market research, branding, segmentation, targeting, and positioning.
  • Casino database knowledge required; prior direct mail marketing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate significant knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Experience in writing news articles, publicity release, and flyers.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory/managerial experience, preferably in a casino environment.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the Internal Controls and Tribal-State Compact, Company and Department Polices and Procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in advertising, promotions, special events, marketing, and public relations.
  • Superior computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), player tracking, and casino software and other software tools is essential.
  • Must represent WSCE in a professional manner in person and through all types of correspondence.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in public speaking is strongly preferred.
  • Must be flexible with hours and days as events and business dictate. 

 

Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills are essential.  This includes verbal, written and listening skills.  Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, Management and guests while providing excellent service to internal and external customers.  Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with public officials, regulators, Board members, department heads, members of the public, outside auditors and/or vendors.
  • Must be able to analyze and solve complex management problems that may have non-standard solutions.
  • Skilled in solving practical problems and dealing effectively with situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Proven innovation skills and creativity required.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Some lifting and carrying is required.  Lifting items weighing as much as 60 pounds may be required, but this should occur rarely, i.e., less than 15% of the time.
  • This position requires reaching, manipulating and keyboard operation (typing).
  • This position requires sitting, stooping, standing, bending, and walking.
  • This position requires intense and exacting mental and visual attention.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This job is typically performed under very comfortable working conditions; disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal job performance.  However, at times, it requires working in areas where the noise level is high, where there is secondhand tobacco smoke while performing intense, complex, and very involved tasks with major responsibility.
  • Must observe and comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of all safety equipment provided.  Must always practice safety.

Special Requirements & Other:

  • Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must submit to and pass a drug/alcohol screening test.
  • Must submit to and pass an Oregon State background investigation
  • Proven gaming license eligibility preferred.
