GENERAL FUNCTION:
Incumbent serves as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for Support Solutions of Tennessee; provides psychiatric social work to persons with mental illness and their families. Collaborates with psychiatric and medical treatment team in diagnosis and treatment planning for persons supported.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The knowledge base of professional counseling includes theories of biological, psychological, and social development; diversity and cultural competency; interpersonal relationships; family and group dynamics; mental disorders; addictions; impacts of illness, trauma, or injury; and the effects of the physical, social, and cultural environment. This knowledge is inculcated in counseling Maser's level graduate program and is fused with direct-practice skills that are developed by the practitioner during a period of at least two years of post-graduate experience under clinical supervision. This period should suffice to prepare the clinical social worker for autonomous practice and state-licensure as a clinical social work professional. This position requires:
1. Oversee all therapy (individual and group) services.
2. Oversee scheduling of individual therapy services (delegate if needed).
3. Review and sign off notes for all non-licensed therapists.
4. Review and update Intensive Outpatient Program curriculum as needed.
5. Review all Intensive Outpatient Program authorizations before submitting to the insurance.
6. Submit Intensive Outpatient Program authorization requests to MCOs.
7. Ensure transitioning of patients from Intensive Outpatient Program to individual therapy.
8. Monitor session attendance for Intensive Outpatient Program participants and maintain appropriate contact with MCOs regarding authorization dates and attendance as needed.
9. Notify Patients/staff of IOP cancellations
10. Assist with Marketing activities for the Mental Health Clinic as needed.
11. Develop new Intensive Outpatient groups based on population need.
12. Investigates case situations and presents information to Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist and other members of health team, on patients' family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
13. Helps patients to respond constructively to treatment and assist in adjustment leading to and following discharge.
14. Interprets psychiatric treatment to patients' family and helps to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment.
15. Serves as a link between patient, psychiatric agency, and community.
16. Works directly in treatment relationship with patients, individually or in groups, in consultation with Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist.
17. Uses researched based strengths based social work approach to treating clients.
18. Can assess and make clinical evaluations of patient's mental health and diagnose mental illness.
19. Make judgments on the best course of treatment based upon current clinical research in the social work field.
20. Other duties as assigned.

4. Operates SSTN and personal transportation in a safe and healthy manner.
5. Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by designated and/or authorized staff.
