The Lee’s Summit Distribution Center (DC) Sanitation Specialist is a member of the Warehouse Team leading all aspects of the building facility cleaning and sanitation. This role primarily focuses on overseeing the day-to-day and weekly execution of all aspects of janitorial and sanitation tasks in the building and outside the building.
The ideal candidate maintains a high standard of attention to detail and pride in the work they do.
What You Will Do:
The Janitorial/Facilities Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the facility. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the building remains in pristine condition for employees, clients, and visitors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- General Cleaning:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas of the facility.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, counters, and shelves.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and mirrors.
- Empty and replace trash receptacles and recycling bins throughout the building, including bathrooms.
- Clean and polish windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Specialized Cleaning:
- Disinfect high-touch areas such as doorknobs, light switches as needed
- Clean and maintain kitchen and break room areas, including appliances, inside of microwaves, countertops, and dining tables daily.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks as needed, such as carpet cleaning and floor waxing.
- Maintenance Tasks:
- Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs, such as leaks, broken fixtures, or electrical issues.
- Replenish supplies in restrooms and kitchen areas, including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and in good working order.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to minimize risks of injury or contamination.
- Participate in regular safety training and stay updated on best practices for sanitation and maintenance.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other janitorial staff and facility management to prioritize cleaning tasks and ensure efficient operation.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any issues or concerns promptly.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning after events or meetings as required.
- Additional Duties:
- Respond to emergency cleaning needs promptly and efficiently.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or facility manager.
Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in janitorial or cleaning services is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods.
- Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working in various areas of the facility, including offices, restrooms, kitchens, and public spaces, and warehouse floor.
- The job may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- This position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and occasional exposure to unpleasant odors.
