Position Details:
- Senior Human Resources Generalist
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 annually
- Full-Time, Exempt
- 40 hours per week
- Fully Onsite Position in Hayward, CA
Essential Job Responsibilities:Â
- Deliver high-level, solutions-oriented support to employees, students, and members of the campus community with professionalism and discretion.
- Independently maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of all employee records, ensuring compliance with institutional and legal standards.
- Proactively lead the recruitment lifecycle, identifying strategic sourcing opportunities, screening candidates, facilitating interviews, and coordinating next steps with hiring managers.
- Evaluate and streamline recruitment and onboarding workflows to improve efficiency and candidate experience.
- Conduct reference and background checks with attention to compliance and alignment with institutional standards.
- Respond to HR-related inquiries with a high degree of professionalism, exercising sound judgment and maintaining confidentiality.
- Draft and manage employment documentation including offer letters, quarterly appointment letters, job descriptions, employee change forms, and separation notices, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Lead onboarding for new hires across departments, continuously improving the onboarding experience for faculty, staff, and student employees.
- Conduct and refine new hire orientation and exit interviews, independently identifying patterns and areas for improvement.
- Maintain and improve data integrity within the HRIS system, HR dashboards, and internal documentation, identifying opportunities for automation or simplification where appropriate.
- Take initiative to plan and implement professional development opportunities in alignment with campus culture and strategic HR goals.
- Interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures with clarity, offering guidance and recommendations that support consistent and fair application.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on a range of employee relations matters, including performance management, corrective action, harassment, and discrimination, escalating appropriately when necessary.
- Facilitate sensitive conversations and team discussions, offering collaborative and practical solutions to workplace challenges.
- Foster strong, trust-based relationships across all levels of the organization, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and employee relations skills.
- Accept direction and feedback constructively, while contributing to a collaborative team environment and modeling professionalism and growth-minded leadership.
Qualifications:Â
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Communication or related field.Â
- At least 5 years of Human Resources Experience as a Generalist or Business Partner or a combination of education, experience and/or training. PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP Certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in strategic problem-solving, employee relations, relationship building and change management.
- Experience and knowledge of California Wage and Labor Laws and Regulations
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite and Google Workspace tools.
- Clear and constructive communicator with strong organizational skills.
- Provide professional services objectively and with integrity.Â
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all areas of the position.Â
- Detail oriented with attention to accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficient interviewing skills, including the ability to objectively and accurately gather facts
- Proficient organizational and project management skills, including ability to meet demanding, evolving and overlapping deadline
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
