• Build and maintain strong relationships with growers and ag customers; identify opportunities to offer agronomic solutions that maximize customer ROI.
• Manage daily operations of the agronomy center, including retail sales, inventory management, service scheduling, and logistics of input delivery and application.
• Supervise agronomy staff,, operations personnel, and seasonal team members.
• Oversee inventory of crop inputs (seed, fertilizer, crop protection), ensuring proper storage, handling, and timely replenishment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance of the store, yard, and storage areas, adhering to safety and environmental compliance standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
• Support the credit and collections process by assisting with customer account management and enforcing credit policies.
• Collaborate with agronomists and crop advisors to support field trials, product promotions, and in-season crop recommendations.
• Ensure accurate recordkeeping related to inventory, customer transactions, DOT compliance, and pesticide application.
• Operate and support agronomy equipment when needed, including forklifts, tender trucks, and spreaders (must meet DOT or CDL qualifications, if applicable).
• Provide seasonal support, including extended hours during peak agronomic periods (planting, spraying, harvest).
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of agronomy or ag retail experience; prior management or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Ag Business, Crop Science, or related field.
• Strong working knowledge of crop inputs, agronomic practices, and local farming systems.
• Proficiency in Ag retail software systems (e.g., Merchant Ag, Epicor) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation or willingness to pursue is a plus.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships with producers.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
