Perform duties required to supervise and coordinate activities of shipping, receiving and trucking in the process of heat treating and finishing of metal products to ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Team Members, to include training, assigning work, checking work, and documentation to ensure compliance with procedures.
- Assign, prioritize, and distribute daily work tasks and shop orders to ensure efficient and productive workflow.
- Communicate with previous and next shift supervisors and other departments on matters pertaining to schedules, production methods, materials and issues affecting production.
- Communicate problems and status of operations to Production Manager and other pertinent personnel.
- Work directly with customers, administrative staff and order writing to ensure proper handling and completion of all related documentation.
- Monitor productivity and quality of production methods, and update PICS processes and recommend improvements as needed.
- Review and set up for reprocessing any rejects or reworks that are within the capability of the supervisor.
- Halt production processing upon discovery of non-conforming work: determine and document the cause, and work toward a solution.
- Document changes, suggestions, and reclaim processes in accordance with the Divisional Quality Control Manual.
- Fill in for Material Handlers as required.
- Ensure employees meet training requirements.
- Maintain high standards for safety, productivity, security, and housekeeping through appropriate use of management techniques, hiring, suspension, and discipline in accordance with company policy, shop rules and regulations.
- Supervise the completion, organization, and maintenance of production records and files including: timecards, production records, shop orders, accident reports, furnace logs, and charts, etc.
- Analyze and assist employees with solving work problems.
- Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, rate increases, promotions, disciplinary measures, and performance appraisals.
- Assist with customer service request.
- Create and foster an environment where all employees have a safety first mindset.
- Create and foster an environment where all employees understand and follow the 5s disciplines.
- Must have good verbal and written skills in order to communicate with customers effectively.
- Must have a good understanding of computers and show proficiency.
- Must be able to effectively lead the shift and the team toward continual improvement using employee engagement following Paulo management direction and business philosophies.
- Maintain good morale, resolving conflict quickly and effectively.
- Keep Paulo management informed of any potential problems that have or might arise.
- Interview and offer jobs to qualified candidates for Material Handlers and Drivers.
