Position Summary:
The primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive psychiatric care through evaluations, diagnoses, individualized treatment planning, and medication management, as well as offering crisis intervention when needed. This position emphasizes patient education and advocacy, helping patients and their families understand conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies while ensuring their needs are supported within the healthcare system and the broader community.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP or PMHNP-BC).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical psychiatric experience (5+ years preferred).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DHS, and state/federal regulatory standards.
- Additional Requirements: Must complete TB testing, drug screening, and background check upon hire.
Primary ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including history, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments.
- Formulate accurate psychiatric diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Manage psychotropic medication regimens, including initiation, titration, and monitoring.
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments for patients in acute distress.
Collaboration
- Partner with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other providers to deliver cohesive care.
- Participate in case consultations and team meetings to review patient progress.
- Refer patients to higher levels of care or community resources when appropriate.
Patient Education & Advocacy
- Educate patients and families on psychiatric conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
- Advocate for patient needs within the healthcare system and community support.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards.
- Monitor and adhere to DEA and state guidelines regarding controlled substance prescribing.

- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric care through continuing education.
- Contribute to clinic quality improvement initiatives and professional growth opportunities.
