NOC Administrator

Overview

The Network Administrator primary responsibility is to monitor, troubleshoot, track and report on the daily operational activities and performance of Surf Internet’s fiber-based network and

systems. This position requires a high attention to detail, and regularly multi-tasking using strong verbal and written communication skills in a collaborative environment.

Department: NOC & Network Engineering

Job Status: Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

· Incident Management: Monitor the Surf network for events and anomalies that may lead to disruptions to our customer experience

· Outage Management: Initiate, coordinate and lead triage efforts to restore customer services and mitigate future events

· Support, configure and maintain all Route / Switch and optical transport platforms including, but not limited to Juniper, Mikrotik, Infinera and Adtran

· Manage and track all incoming incident requests using ticketing system

· Serve as escalation contact for Tier 2, Technical representatives

· Support internal NOC escalations through Peer to Peer review process

· Adhere to NOC standard operating procedures

· Track all network changes made through CAB ticket process

· Create change management solutions and track through ticketing system, identifying and overseeing notification of impact to customers.

Qualifications

· Experience or education in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or a related field of study preferred.

· Strong analytical and problems solving skills

· A working understanding of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPLS, DWDM, SONET, GPON and Active

E fiber networks

· Knowledge of application transport and infrastructure protocols

· Knowledge of network cabling and network topology

· Knowledge of Routing and switching

· Knoweldge, working experience, or related certifications to Adtran, Juniper, Mikrotik, Infinera, Ubiquiti, BaiCells, Cambium

· Ability to read, decipher and create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning of network communication systems
