Overview

The Reliability Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the reliability, performance, and scalability of our service provider network. This role focuses on day-to-day implementation tasks, network turn-ups, and assisting with escalations. You will work closely with the NOC, Infrastructure, and Sales Engineering teams to deliver reliable and high-performing network services.

Responsibilities:

  • Network Turn-Up & Deployment:
    • Provision and turn up new fiber access sites and customer services.
    • Configure and test customer-facing services.
  • Change Management:
    • Implement approved network changes with a focus on minimizing risk and downtime.
    • Document changes and validate post-change success criteria.
  • NOC Support:
    • Respond to NOC escalations and assist in troubleshooting Layer 2/Layer 3 network issues.
    • Serve as an escalation point for trouble tickets that require engineering input.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Monitor network health and work proactively to identify and remediate potential issues.
  • Collaboration:
    • Partner with Sales Engineering and Project Management to deliver enterprise/E-Rate solutions.
    • Collaborate with Tier 2/3 engineers on more complex issues and projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Required Skills:
    • Experience with routing and switching (Juniper preferred).
    • VLAN Trunking, Q-in-Q, and tunneling experience.
    • Hands-on experience with GPON and fiber builds is a plus.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Juniper JNCIA-Junos or JNCIS-SP certification (or equivalent experience).
    • Familiarity with Microtik, Adtran, and ADVA platforms.
    • Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, and VPLS.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
