Work Schedule:       
M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm plus (flexibility for working weeknights and weekends)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Development is responsible for the progressive and dynamic implementation, oversight and achievement of the Pioneer Center’s Donor fundraising efforts to further the vision and mission of the Organization, Pillars and Programs. The position develops and supports a strategic approach to fundraising in McHenry County and surrounding areas which includes but is not limited to donors of major and annual gifts comprised of individuals, corporations, church, associations, non-for-profit associations, clubs and foundations, and in-kind resources, all while encouraging a culture of philanthropy both internally and externally.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
•     Serve as the Chief Development Officer for the Pioneer Center actively engaged in and accountable for seeking philanthropic support from donors and prospects throughout our service area to meet annual and long-term funding goals and objectives.
•     Collaborate with CEO and the Board of Directors/Development Committee to create a fund development plan annually which increases revenue to support the operational and strategic needs and direction of the Agency. 
•     Collaborate with CEO and Directors to Develop the annual Marketing Plan to meet both operating and strategic needs of the organization including the 3 Division needs.  
•     Leads and participates in and contributes to the Fund Development committee of the Board of Directors.  
•     Hire, manage, support and evaluate all employees of the department while cultivating an inclusive environment of teamwork and collaboration.  
•     Develop, implement, and lead a successful and integrated donor relations program that strategically targets all levels of giving. Ensures donor lifecycle of Identification/Acquisition, cultivation, solicitation Stewardship, Retention and Upgrade are followed and acknowledged and recognized to strengthen their financial support for the Agency.  
•     Oversee and direct the development and marketing functions including implementation of strategic communications in multiple mediums in a timely fashion. This will include, but not be limited to; social media sites, Annual Report to Donors, e-blasts, year-end-reminders, gift acknowledgements, web pages, invitations, newsletter updates, fundraising campaign materials, and press releases.  
•     Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure operational/annual and strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner to achieve targeted results. Develop respective budgets for each.
•     Work with Auxiliary and Volunteer Committees to execute Pioneer Center's main fundraising events. Lead meetings when needed and act as the committee's point person.  
•     Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the fund development plan to generate revenue for the Agency.  
•     Identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects for the agency's fundraising priorities.  
•     Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.  
•     Oversee the coordination of in-kind donations and makes decisions regarding the issuing of receipts.  
•     Develop and gain approval for an annual income and expenditure budget for the fund development department.  
•     Prepare and share with Development Committee and Board of Directors regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditures related to fundraising efforts and the management of the fund development activities.  
•     Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary.  
•     Direct marketing function and coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts that are aligned with the goals and objectives of the fund development department.  
•     Build and cultivate relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the Agency.  Report on progress of those relationships to CEO and Development Committee.
•     Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved.  Makes recommendations for improvement when they are not meeting expectation.
•     Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary. Keep abreast of best practices in marketing and fundraising. 
•     Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the Agency and externally.  
•     Develop, update and maintain policies and procedures for the Development department and Marketing department which reflect ethical fundraising and best practices.  
•     Maintains ongoing contact with the Agency’s staff regarding programs and plans. Cultivates an internal culture of teamwork and collaboration.  
•     Collaborate with CEO and HR Officer on external Agency communication. Seek approval on all key external communication such as Corporate, Program and HR announcements
•     Develop and/or update Development and Marketing Strategic Plan and monitor progress to goals and objectives.  
•     Publish Dashboards, Metrics, Analytics and reports to monitor progress and trends of monthly results to annual Development and Marketing plan. Develop new reports where necessary.
•     Willingness and ability to speak publicly and represent Agency to all stakeholders, internal and external.  
•     Completes all Agency trainings as required.  
•     Follows HR policies and completes HR paperwork. Contacts HR with questions concerning either.  
•     Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.  
•     Regular, reliable, predictable attendance.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:    Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): Preferred 
Major in Sales or Business Administration, Non-profit Administration or Marketing/Sales: Preferred
Master's Degree: Preferred 


Experience:    10 plus years of experience in Sales or non-profit Fundraising; Marketing, or Sales or Fund Development, including demonstrated knowledge of annual giving, major giving through individual and foundation/corporate solicitations; communications and special events management.
5 plus years of supervisory experience

Computer Skills:    Microsoft Office, to include Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Results Plus or other non-profit software  
 

Certifications &
Licenses:    Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred  
 

Other Requirements:    Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Must be able to meet agency driver safety requirement of carrying personal vehicle insurance with the following limits:
$50,000 bodily injury, each person

$50,000 property damage
