SUMMARY
Functions as an entry-level technician who can perform oil changes and other vehicle maintenance and light repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential duties include the following. Other responsibilities relative to the service center's operations, upkeep, and/or maintenance may be assigned.
- Performs work specified on maintenance and repair orders efficiently and per dealership and factory standards.
- Inspects fluid levels of steering gear, power steering reservoir, transmission, differential, and rear axle housings.
- Checks the air pressure of tires.
- Drains and refills oil and replaces oil filters.
- Inspects vehicles for additional repairs needed.
- Performs tire rotations, installations, and balancing on all makes and models.
- Performs work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately, following dealership and factory standards.
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Road tests vehicles when required.
- Examine the assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate immediately with the service advisor if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not required, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor
- Keeps customers' cars clean and promptly notifies service advisors of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition.
- Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA requirements.
- Operates all tools and equipment safely.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management. Â
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events
- Maintains a neat and clean shop area.
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
- Follows all other instructions and requests of the manager/supervisor.
