With so much going on behind the scenes, we are seeking an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee all golf course maintenance activities and lead the Golf Grounds crew to deliver excellence for every guest, every time.

Pay $   Salary Based On Experience

Reports to: General Manager

 

 

As the Golf Course Superintendent, you will lead your team to complete all maintenance activities, both routine and repairs, including mowing, trimming, edging, laying sod, planting trees and seed turf, maintaining all aspects of the golf course and associated equipment.

Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant

Responsibilities include:

  • Will be entrusted with the maintenance of 18 holes of golf at The Oaks Golf Course.
  • Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs.
  • Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
  • Must be able to work closely with the GM to operate Golf Course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner
  • Must be able to work in conjunction with resort Dir. of Golf to insure guest and associate expectations are being met
  • Participate in long-range planning and budgeting
  • Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with Golf Course Operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Develops annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
  • Provides detailed annual plan for the various property levels and the designated landscaping areas. Includes rotational design to provide facility with fresh, eye-catching, interesting and pleasant atmosphere
  • Order parts, supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
  • Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance staff. Conducts employee performance evaluations and exercises disciplinary action
  • Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
  • Oversees subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
  • Maintains records and completes required reporting
  • Schedules maintenance around guest and members play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to players
  • Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
  • Interpersonal skill to resolve conflict and work with supervisors, officials, employees, members and the general public.
  • Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees and wetlands on the facility grounds.
  • Manages an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems and provides monthly reporting on retaining ponds, wells and other water source usage.
  • Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens
  • Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements and tending to high stress areas.
  • Coordinate snow removal on resort roadways and parking area

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Directly influence the playing areas and landscapes with which golfers interact.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the English Language to effectively communicate with guests and associates.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and implement and make decisions on a regular basis
  • Must possess excellent hospitality and customer service skills, in particular the ability to talk with golfers while engaged in your daily duties
  • Projects and assignments are completed thoroughly, professionally, and with care.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Prefer Pesticide Application License
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant
  • Prefer Degree or Certificate in Turf Management, or related field like agronomy, horticulture, plant science or soil science
  • Golf Knowledge preferred in particular a good understanding of golf terminology and etiquette
  • Good verbal communication skills and highly motivated to complete assigned tasks with little or no supervision needed
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule, which means weekends, holidays, early mornings and evenings.

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing, writing, speaking
  • Ability to stand on feet for hours at a time and be able to climb stairs
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold for extended periods of time
