Summary: Friedman’s Home Improvement is looking for a Team Member who enjoys engaging others in building their knowledge base through different avenues of training.  This Training Specialist role plays a key part in supporting the Company’s training, development, and Team Member engagement efforts. The Training Team is a dynamic department that is involved in a wide range of creative, planning, and administrative duties, including designing and delivering high quality standard, specialized, and technical training programs tailored to business needs. The Training Specialist will work on a variety of tasks, including drafting proposed curricula, creating custom course content, sourcing relevant materials, and managing training logistics and records.

Collaboration with teams and people across all channels of the Company to identify business training needs, gather feedback, and refine programs accordingly will be a core function of the role. This role will help create frameworks, tools, and materials that empower Team Members to succeed in their roles through the Company’s Learning Management System (LMS). Training Specialists should be comfortable delivering both in-person and virtual training sessions, including being on camera for recorded and live training.

This team also works to ensure consistency and clarity across the organization by working on larger enterprise standardization projects, i.e., documenting processes, mapping workflows, drafting policy, and other projects as assigned.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging training programs in various formats (e-learning, blended learning, and instructor-led courses) to meet business needs.
  • Maintain and update training materials, ensuring content remains relevant and engaging.
  • Manage training logistics and records, including scheduling, coordination with subject matter experts, preparation of materials, and recording attendance.
  • Administer and manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including troubleshooting issues and ensuring content accuracy.
  • Support enterprise-wide standardization efforts by documenting processes, mapping workflows, and drafting policies.

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED, and 2-4 years of related experience and/or training

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong facilitation, instructional design, and content development skills
  • Proficiency in LMS administration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset with a passion for learning and development

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical location of the Training Specialist position will be located in the Santa Rosa Friedman’s Home Improvement Store.  Hours are typically Monday – Friday 8 hour shifts, with the occasional weekend or evening as business needs.  Travel to store locations in Sonoma and Mendocino counties are necessary to assist with on-site training as business needs.
