Mon-Fri 7:45am - 4:15pm. MUST BE A REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT.  This is not an office manager role. Must have experience with training, scheduling and supervising Dental Assistants.

Position Summary: 

The Dental Supervisor is responsible for supervising the clinical staff, maintaining the proper sterilization procedures, promoting and maintaining positive patient relations. They are responsible for the efficient, timely and smooth running of Dental Clinic by maximizing the usage all dental resources. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Insures the sterility of all reusable dental instruments and equipment in accordance with Dental Department directives and protocols.
  • Performs the essential functions of a Registered Dental Assistant when needed.
  • Maintain an operating environment that assures effective, efficient, safe operation of the Clinic and respond to the patients’ and clinicians’ needs.
  • Maintain and oversee maintenance of all dental equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines and ensures records are logged appropriately.
  • Oversee the timely procuring/maintenance of dental, office supplies and equipment with the Chief Dental Officer to ensure the availability of adequate equipment and supplies required to provide patient services.
  • Triage walk-in patients, take action(s) necessary to maintain smooth patient flow and inform the Chief Dental Office and/or Clinic Manager of issues affecting the ability to deliver timely patient care.
  • Ensure that processes required for efficient clinic operations have taken place prior to the arrival of the first patient.
  • Perform trouble shooting when problems/patients complaints or difficult situations arise and take independent action to resolve such situations.
  • Maintain records/documents in accordance with Dental and Clinic Policies and Procedures, contractual obligations and funding sources.
  • Assign workloads, develop priorities, and establish work schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Responsible for all staff training and on-boarding, performance reviews, competency assessments, and systems knowledge ( Dentrix, Epic) included. 
  • Document disciplinary actions and/or counseling sessions in consultation with the Clinic Manager and Human Resources. 
  • Monitor strict adherence to universal precautions as established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, DHS and the Clinic.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working evening clinic, weekends, overtime, and float to other clinics as assigned.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor.

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of  5-7 years  years experience with back and front office work.
  • Possesses and maintains a valid and current license with the State of California as a registered dental assistant with Coronal Polish Certificate and x-ray license required
  • Current CPR (BLS) required
  • Proof of continuing education
  • Supervisory experience in similar setting a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability with 4-handed dentistry
  • Working knowledge and experience in all phases of dental procedures
