Direct Support Professional - Baldwinsville

Advocates is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with two delightful individuals that live independently in their own home. They would like to find a DSP who can think outside of the box and assist them with being more involved in activities in their community as well as enhancing their independent living skills. They are incredibly independent having lived on their own for 8 years and enjoy activities that include art, theater, music, movies, board games, and cooking. They are looking for one DSP to work with them at the same time. Their ideal candidate is well organized, creative, patient, and reliable. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience.  

Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.

Hours and days of work

Every other Saturday (11 AM - 7 PM)

Full-time opportunities may be available.

Pay rate: $20.50 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $15.50 per hour.

Location: Baldwinsville, NY

• Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred.
• Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.
• Other: The individual does not have the authority to set the staff salary in this model. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
