Vice President, Quality and Education

JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Quality and Education is responsible for initiatives related to the strategic planning, development, implementation, and ongoing support of clinical quality management and educational objectives and regulatory compliance throughout all designated communities. This involves proven leadership to drive effective communication, coordination, and collaboration with all levels of Senior Living operations.  This role requires collaboration with divisional vice presidents to support their overall objectives and accountability goals.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Quality & Education (Q&E) team, helping to align work priorities in each Spring Arbor community with focus and goals consistent with companies objectives.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes professional growth, teamwork, and a commitment to success.
  • Implement systems to assure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide community clinical leadership with consistent training and expectations regarding the resident assessment process, to assure proper care and billing are in place.
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze clinical metrics and outcomes across all communities, identifying areas of improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct or oversee completion of full internal quality audit in each community at least annually. This should be completed in a timely advance of state survey to assist and assure correction of identified deficiencies, etc.
  • Support resident retention objectives by working closely with community management in identifying questionable resident prospects, backdoor issues, and opportunities.
  • Serve as a proactive advocate for residents and family members.
  • Provide role modeling, guidance, and support to team members.
  • Develop and support training and mentoring programs for team members to help minimize turnover.
  • Identify and facilitate the effective rollout and implementation of assorted electronic health information platforms as needed (i.e., electronic health records and medication administration records; staffing/scheduling platforms; quality audit tools/platforms, etc.).
  • Work closely with Regional Directors to interpret and communicate new regulatory standards as related to resident care and services.
  • Develop, implement, and assist with updates and maintenance of Policies and Procedures &P and Operational Manuals as needed.
  • Interact with local and state regulatory personnel as needed to clarify issues or seek guidance.
  • Utilize networking resources to remain abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to identify new opportunities.
  • Model and reinforce Mission, Vision, and Values at every opportunity.

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Geriatric assessment and medication management skills and the ability to demonstrate and instruct the same.
  • Alzheimer’s/dementia knowledge and experience and the ability to demonstrate and instruct the same.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations and the ability to demonstrate and instruct the same.
  • Ability to establish effective and non-threatening community audit and educational experiences.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, adapting to changing needs and conditions.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (Yardi preferred) and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse preferred, with an active license in NC, VA, MD, and/or other State within company's geography.
  • Masters Degree, preferred 
  • Minimum of 3 years of geriatric nursing experience, including dementia/Alzheimer’s.
  • At least 5 years of management experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience and a track record in building strong working teams.
  • Experience with and a passion for working with seniors.
  • Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others.
  • Ability to work well with others and to promote a team attitude in all environments.
