Fire Extinguisher & Kitchen Suppression Technician

Fire Extinguisher & Kitchen Suppression Technician Summary

Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices. Hydro-test high pressure cylinders. Dismantle extinguishers and examine mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts.  Performs a broad range of maintenance, repair, and installation support, also incorporating inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of kitchen hood suppression systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Fire Extinguisher & Kitchen Suppression Technician:   

  • Dismantle extinguishers and examine tubing, horns, head gaskets, cutter discs, and other parts for defects. replaces worn or damaged parts.
  • Clean extinguishers and recharge with various agents, including soda water and sulfuric acid, carbon tetrachloride, nitrogen, or patented solutions or other.
  • Test extinguishers for conformity with legal specifications.
  • Install cabinets and brackets to hold extinguishers.
  • Facilitate and support sales of fire extinguishers.
  • Inspecting and repairing pre-engineered restaurant fire suppression systems.
  • Thorough understanding of NFPA, manufacturer and local fire codes for restaurant fire suppression systems.
  • Perform system repairs which includes installation of nozzles and piping and installation, removal or replacement of agent cylinders
  • Perform inspection, service, repair and maintenance of wet and dry chemical fire extinguishing systems/portable fire extinguishers.
  • Identifying potentially unfavorable site condition that could compromise the performance of mechanical and/or components of the system.
  • Performing on-site emergency troubleshooting of fire suppression systems.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all work performed.

 

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED);Plus if fire extinguisher related experience and/or training; Plus if two (2) years kitchen suppression experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Additional Requirements - Pre-employment Drug screen & Clean MVR; overtime may be required.
