Adjunct Faculty - Clinical Mental Health Counseling

JOB SUMMARY

Adjunct CMHC Faculty responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing and teaching weekly classes, evaluating students’ learning progress, promoting a clear counselor identity, and completing appropriate documentation. Additionally, Adjunct CMHC Faculty will support the mission of the CMHC Program at Spalding University which is to prepare, equip, and educate competent clinical mental health practitioners who demonstrate compassion and readiness to meet the behavioral and mental health needs of our society.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Spalding University CMHC Adjunct Faculty will adhere to the policies and procedures contained in the Spalding University Faculty Governance Document as well as:

• Meet all facility onboarding requirements and review all course materials prior to the first day of the semester.
• Gather, synthesize, and deliver current scholarly information relevant to course topics.
• Provide feedback on students’ progress in a timely manner to facilitate academic success. For students demonstrating difficulties, work with core faculty to offer coaching and support. Report any unusual occurrences to core facility and/or course faculty as appropriate.
• Utilize instructional technology to facilitate CMHC students’ learning goals.
• Adhere to university and CMHC program policies and procedures as well as the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics.
• Work collegially and professionally with students, core faculty, staff, and community partners, maintain an open line of clear communication, and collaborate with core faculty continuously.
• Participate, as able, in university or program meetings.
• Participate, as able, in continuing faculty development programs and scholarly activities.
• Participate, as able, in university, professional, and community service.

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

     Required Qualifications:

• A master degree in CMHC or related field closely related to the course(s) being taught. 
• Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or related helping profession in Kentucky.
• A strong counselor identity and a minimum of two years counseling experience.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience using instructional technology.

    Preferred Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program. 
• Experience teaching in higher education.
• Five years of experience as a CMHC related to the course(s) being taught.
• Experience with Canvas and Tevera instructional technologies.
• Record of professional and scholarly productivity.
• Knowledgeable of CACREP-accredited counseling program standards.
• Experience in clinical supervision.
