JOB SUMMARY     

Spalding University is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and student-centered Director of Admissions to lead the daily operations of our Office of Admissions. This role plays a critical part in advancing the university’s mission through the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse and talented student population. Reporting to the Vice President of Admissions and Student Experience, the Director will oversee recruitment strategies, admissions operations, team development, and strategic partnerships, while ensuring alignment with Spalding’s commitment to access, equity, and academic excellence.

This position is ideal for an experienced enrollment professional with a proven track record in admissions, team leadership, and strategic planning who is passionate about student success.

This position's salary is $55,000 - $65,000 yearly based on experience and qualifications, and it includes a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical coverage, 403b, 22 days of Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, tuition remission, cell phone allowance, and much more.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of admissions counselors and administrative support staff.
  • Manage all aspects of student recruitment and enrollment operations, including application evaluation and holistic admissions review.
  • Oversee team travel logistics and manage recruitment events, including new student orientation.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on admissions data weekly to support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive student funnel movement and ensure prospective students progress from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Admissions and Student Experience to identify and develop key recruitment markets.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Marketing on recruitment messaging and materials.
  • Develop and manage the admissions operating budget.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Admissions on transfer and adult recruitment strategies.
  • Chair admissions committees and render admissions decisions.
  • Engage in public speaking, student interviews, and regular travel to recruit prospective students.
  • Ensure a high-quality, customer-focused experience for prospective students and families.

 

Qualifications

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, or related fields. Management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative work.
  • Results-driven with experience in achieving and exceeding enrollment goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM platforms (SLATE experience preferred).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Skilled in time management, problem-solving, and navigating complex situations with diplomacy.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends and to travel within the region.

 

IINTERPERSONAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Daily collaboration with the VPASE, Enrollment Technology Coordinator, Director of Marketing, and academic leadership.
  • Frequent engagement with faculty, staff, students, and members of the public.
  • Must demonstrate respect for and ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
