About the Role

The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of a Theatre, including both people and operations. The GM also ensures that the team is focused on driving continuous improvement and delivering high-quality guest experiences.

This role has overall accountability to ensure the efficient execution of all operations, including focus and ownership within In-Theatre Sales, Experience, Box Office, Business-to-Business and Guest Service areas. The GM collaborates with executive leadership to identify and prioritize initiatives for budget creation and oversees budget implementation and reporting.

This position is responsible for the oversight and leadership within his/her building, supporting and cultivating ownership of budget line items within the scope of individual managers. The GM drives success and continuous growth by cultivating entrepreneurship within the team. The GM supports the development of a positive internal culture, building and improving upon the employee experience resulting in MJR Digital Cinemas being a sought-after employer.

The GM has the final responsibility for the security of the theatre. He/she is the contact person for the local companies and official organizations and is the link between his/her team and the cinema support center.

Qualifications

  • Successful track record in managing and leading a team of full & part time employees
  • Passionate in delivering quality products/service in a fast-paced guest service environment
  • Solid understanding of budget processes, revenue & inventory control procedures and can provide direction to management staff as needed
  • A working knowledge & understanding of all areas of the business and providing oversight and leadership to your team
  • Engaged in finding solutions & efficiencies
  • Thrives in a fast paced, results oriented work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Comfortable in providing / presenting recommendations/advice in areas of expertise
  • Ownership & accountability of budgets, targets & results
  • University degree in Business Management or equivalent is an asset
  • Participation in leadership development and/or workshops
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing multiple teams in a guest-centric industry
