Summary: Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), the Associate Director of Philanthropy (ADP) is a frontline
fundraiser for a dynamic non-profit with strong community following its mission. The ADP is responsible for identifying and
cultivating prospective donors and stewarding current donors to maintain and increase giving as part of a department and
organization effort to meet budgeted fundraising goals. The ADP leads annual giving activities, including one special event,
beneficiary events, giving campaigns, corporations/businesses, and private grant renewals and new grants. The ADP will also
assist the executive team and board to engage and steward high-level prospects and supporters. This role requires
communication with numerous audiences, through visits, calls, and communication of client stories as illustrations of our
mission in action. The ADP functions in a fast-paced environment. Works closely with the CPO on fundraising strategies and
bring both independence and collaboration to the role.

Essential Functions:

  • Increase donor revenue through face-to-face and other personal interactions, compelling communications, and events.
  • Oversee CCS’ annual Tea & Tonic fundraiser (averaging more than $500K in gross revenue) and other smaller beneficiary events. Serve as lead on all event communications, supervise staff and/or contractors coordinating event logistics, and support the Philanthropy Committee comprised of board and community members.
  • In partnership with the CPO and Program Directors, oversee writing of annual report, agency collaterals, and campaign communications.
  • Oversee donor database management in DonorPerfect for accuracy, timely processing of donations, segmented communications, donor tracking, reporting, and management tools. Supervise running of reports for giving trends and donor profile discussion and oversee accuracy of mailing lists for the annual report and segmented appeal letter distribution.
  • Work with CPO and Donor Relations Coordinator to organize Legacy Donor and Volunteer gatherings to offer an opportunity to meet board members or senior leadership on select topics (e.g., program highlight, Q&A, new initiatives).
  • As part of the Philanthropy team, take ownership of a portfolio focused on prospecting and stewarding current donors below the $10,000 annual giving level.
  • Seek regular opportunities for Board, CEO, CDO, and COO to engage with major foundations, corporate donors, and other organizations through social media and ensure that lists of key social media accounts are curated and engaged/followed.
  • Supervise the Donor Relations Coordinator, whose primary responsibilities include donor recognition by segment, mid-level giving ($500-2,000), donor-facing communications, in-kind drives, receptions, and beneficiary events.
  • Supervise the Grants Associate on private grant prospecting, application, reporting activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:
 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a field related to
communications, business, or marketing.
 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of fundraising experience as a staff member at a nonprofit organization with a demonstrated ability to maintain and grow donor relationships, preferably at the managerial level.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of managing event budgets and relationships with sponsors/donors/vendors.
  • Proven project management success, including ability to coordinate deadlines, manage competing priorities, complete assignments, and work in and lead teams.

Preferred Experience:

  • Research and writing skills through grant writing, policy, public health, or advocacy efforts.
  • Familiarity with unique needs of survivors and their communities related to our mission to help survivors and prevent assault.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content.
  • Expertise with DonorPerfect or similar CRM and experience generating reports for analysis, fundraising activities, and segmented communications (digitally or by mail). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom or similar virtual platform, and familiarity with cloud-based collaborative platforms.

Working Environment:
Eligible for hybrid work, with a flexible schedule that includes both remote and in-office work. Typically, 3 days remote
and 2 days in-office and more in-office days as needed for events and projects. Some off-site activities will be held in
other locations, as requested. Must maintain personal cell phone for work-related purposes. Ability to work in IPV, SA,
and stalking fields. Working conditions may include possible exposure to communicable diseases related to those
typically found in social services settings.

 

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully
perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with
hands and arms. Must be able to carry up to 20lbs.
 

Travel:
Some travel may be required (approx. 15% within San Diego County). Must have reliable transportation available for
work-related purposes, a valid driver’s license, and proof of automobile insurance.
 

Work Hours:
The employee must be available during Agency working hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and must work 30 hours each
week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
