Under the supervision of the nurse manager, the LPN works closely with others as needed in the Acute Care Medical/Surgical areas and Primary Care setting throughout the AVAHCS and surrounding Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. The LPN functions both dependently and independently with guidance and direction from the Nurse Manager/designee.

- Contractor nurses may be utilized as needed in the Acute Care Medical/Surgical areas, in ambulatory/outpatient care clinics, and outpatient labs.Â
- Knowledge and skill are sufficient to prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as approved local facility policies and procedures permit.Â
- Observation and documentation will include the patient's response to the medication administered and reporting any noted change in the patient's condition to the RN or MD/DO.Â
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact [in an appropriate manner] with patients, family members, professional and [other] supportive personnel [involved in the delivery of] patient care, incorporating acceptable, established customer service standards into practice.
