Position Purpose:

The Prison Ministry Lead provides direct supervision, training, and support for their team of Prison Ministry Specialists. The Lead and their team are responsible for running and advancing Andrew Wommack Ministries’ Prison Ministry. This is done by engaging with inmates through our Inmate Bible Study by Mail program (IBSM), providing free materials to inmates upon request, corresponding with inmates and their loved ones and chaplains by phone, email, and mail, and actively working to support the Ministry’s vision of reaching further and deeper with the Gospel by growing the number of individuals engaged with our Prison Ministry. The Lead regularly assesses the Prison Ministry’s needs and processes, ensuring effective operations and striving to bring about advancements and improvements. Additionally, the Lead corresponds with and works alongside their fellow Written Operations Leadership Team members as well as other staff members and departments in a professional manner to share and obtain information needed to support the Prison Ministry and to improve processes for the team, the Ministry at large, and our contacts.

The Lead is a self-motivated, self-directed, personable individual who is an excellent communicator and able to work both independently and as a member of a team. This person must be able to take ownership of tasks assigned and work independently within the scope of the assignments. The Lead is also trustworthy, dependable, and capable of faithfully performing their job without continual supervision, striving for excellence in all that they do.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist the Written Operations Manager in providing a trustworthy, comprehensive connection with and oversight of staff
  • Cultivate a positive, supportive, efficient, and innovative work environment for the team
  • Provide oversight of and quality management for all operations that the Prison Ministry is responsible for, including: responding to inbound communication from inmates, their family/friends, and chaplains via mail, email, and phone; enrolling inmates in IBSM, sending them Bible study lessons, and grading returned lessons; ordering materials for inmates who request them; and cultivating positive relationships with chaplains and sending them Prison Libraries upon request
  • Network, encourage, and minister to family members of those who are incarcerated
  • Provide accurate statistics and information for management
  • Hire and train new Prison Ministry Specialists
  • Conduct ongoing training of existing Specialists
  • Provide leadership development and mentoring opportunities for the Specialists to grow personally and professionally while continually striving to develop further in these areas personally as well
  • Guide Specialists in establishing priorities to maintain effective productivity
  • Support the team in developing and maintaining instructions and templates
  • Cultivate innovation among team members to regularly find ways to improve team systems and processes 
  • Regularly perform quality management assessments on team members’ work and provide helpful, constructive feedback and learning opportunities to the team to ensure work is handled in an accurate, professional, and timely manner that is consistent with the heart and doctrine of Andrew Wommack
  • Work alongside the Manager to administer corrections for basic duties compliance and prepare disciplinary documentation when necessary
  • Respond to contacts who are unsatisfied with the level of service provided by the team and escalate as needed
  • Regularly assess the staffing and resource needs of the team
  • Prepare and hold weekly team meetings as instructed by the Dean Radtke Leadership Training Model, as well as individual one-on-one meetings with the Specialists
  • Communicate relevant information to all necessary staff members in a timely manner
  • Facilitate professional email and in-person correspondence with various departments within the ministry
  • Participate in and contribute to relevant meetings and projects with other teams and departments
  • Participate in team meetings with the Written Operations Manager
  • Assist with other functions of the Written Operations Department as needed and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Andrew’s teachings
  • Must have a high level of professionalism and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Inspiring and humble leadership style with the ability to motivate a team effectively with clear communication and expectations
  • Ability to lead in a proactive manner, maintaining Godly behavior
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks efficiently
  • Excellent time management and above-average organizational skills
  • Must be able to effectively operate and navigate a Windows-based computer with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite

Requirements:

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent education is preferred
  • Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred
  • Working knowledge of C1/C2 skillset within Communication Services is preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Must pass all required checks

  • Prison ministry experience preferred
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience
