ABSTRACT OF THE POSITION:
Under the supervision of the WIC Clinic Supervisor and the WIC Clinic Coordinator, performs the functions of a WIC Clerk in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. The Clerk performs all client intake tasks, computer input, benefit issuance to participants, and education of benefit usage. The Clerk also verifies patient/client appointments, schedules initial and return appointments, screens all clinic calls for program eligibility, and prepares client files. Work may also involve conducting various outreach activities in the community and surrounding area.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Greets clients and visitors efficiently and professionally
- Maintains the log of client sign-sheets and tracks their wait time
- Provides efficient telephone service and transfers calls according to established protocols
- Accurately issues benefits and education of benefits
- Performs program eligibility, assists clients in accurately completing forms, and ensuring up-to-date documentation for all client information including immunization records
- Assists clients by providing breastfeeding support as needed
- Pulls and files client charts as needed while following HIPPA rules and regulations
- Prints standard lists (clinic schedule) daily
- Performs reminder calls and rescheduling of appointments
- Performs termination of client benefits in the program computer system according to program guidelines
- Compiles and submits monthly reports as required
- Maintains the Clerk's workspace area, including forms and charts
- Posts closure signs on clinic doors
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to work for long periods of time while maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
- Must be able to sit at a table or desk for long periods of time with occasional standing, walking, squatting, or reaching.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without material handling equipment
- Must have the manual dexterity to use office equipment including but not limited to a copier, computer keyboard, or phone keypad
- Must have the ability to hear and speak face to face, over telephone, or in virtual meetings
