POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Marketing will be focused on the development and profitability of all customer-facing programs including providing / coordinating support and training to the Operations team of our Minuteman Food Marts and Proprietary Food Teams helping to ensure guest experience, sales, marketing, and financial performance expectations are met. This position will have direct responsibility for analyzing, planning, implementing, training, and supporting all Category Management, Merchandising, Marketing and Loyalty App activities for our Minuteman Food Mart locations. This position is not a typical 8 to 5 and will require open availability to support the business needs of the company. Scope will include P&L responsibility over all inside merchandise categories and subcategories as assigned to drive top line sales growth and margin. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- This position will develop clear sales strategies, objectives, tactics, measurable KPIs, and negotiate programs that will drive traffic, sales, and margin dollar growth.
- This position will own our Minuteman Rewards Loyalty program, mobile app and digital experience and actively look for opportunities to enhance this program, increase our loyalty transactions & sales, and drive customer experience while further understanding our customer base, preferences, and trends so we can market to those needs.
- This position will collaboratively work with the Retail Vice President and all Directors to help develop Strategic Vision and plans for Inside Merchandise within our C-Stores that helps us drive top line sales and profitability into the future.
- This position will have the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, developing, and controlling all operational activities for our Proprietary Food locations.
- This position will take a leading role in data analytics and process improvement, collaborating with all teams to develop KPIs, dashboards, and exception reports to improve financial results and foster a culture of operational excellence.
- Work closely with other directors, leaders, and managers within the organization to foster a cohesive team environment; one that embraces and facilitates the Company’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values always.
- Establish a regular weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly cadence with the VP and Directors to discuss departmental initiatives, efforts, trends, provide/ receive feedback, and help foster a collaborative atmosphere of continuous improvement.
- Work with and meet with Vendors of all categories to negotiate the absolute best deal on contracts using our store count leverage, loyalty opportunities and any other reputable means.
- Always look for the latest items to be first to market to take advantage of short-term sales spikes as well as new categories/ subcategories to grow Top Line Sales
- Manage margins and gross profit based on deals negotiated with Vendor partners.
- Responsible for the management of all support funds to include slotting, placement, donations, support, rebates, and incentives.
- Keep track of all rebate dollars by Vendor and look for ways to grow this each year through better negotiations.
- Work with Vendors to develop Plan-O-Grams for each store using scan data, purchase data and market data to help facilitate these decisions. An ongoing process to ensure all slow-moving items are upgraded with new to market items/ trending items that may turn quicker that will help speed up our Inventory turns. Coordinate the calendar, schedule, process & communications for all Plan-O-Gram updates and resets.
- Work with Branded Fuel suppliers (Marathon, Shell, BP, Exxon & Sunoco) on their Marketing programs and ensure these are rolled out effectively.
- This position will be responsible for developing strategic approaches for Grand Openings/Re-Grand Openings/Customer Appreciation Events to maximize Brand awareness and exposure.
- Work to develop a Social Media strategy and plan to help us deploy campaigns that align with the corporate promotions for specific markets.
- Will be actively involved in the annual budgeting process for each site and will manage these costs throughout the year once the budget is set, ensuring these dollars are spent in the most beneficial areas to drive Top Line Sales.
- Develop a rolling 12-month Marketing Plan for each store to submit in Q4 with Annual Budgets
- Constantly evaluate and analyze local competition in all the markets we operate in to find ways to grow market share, units, profitability, customer counts, and means of differentiation from the competition.
- This position will work to develop our brand awareness in the market’s we operate in.
- Work hand in hand with the Operations team to ensure we are being great community partners in each community we operate in.
- Adherence to corporate standards and operating procedures.
- Seek and participate in continuous improvement schools, Study Groups or other information sharing meetings, conferences, etc.
