Starting Range: $54,079.69 - $56,345.84 annually* this rate may vary due to fiscal year reviews. This rate is as of FY25-26

General Description:
The Registered Dietitian provides early intervention services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. Through a family-centered and community-based model, this role offers nutritional assessments, feeding support, and evidence-based interventions that are rooted in daily routines and natural environments. Working within a transdisciplinary team, the Registered Dietitian uses data-informed decision-making and communication tools like the Predictive Index to align care strategies, optimize teamwork, and support positive child and family outcomes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assessment
- Provide comprehensive assessments of nutrition and feeding needs as requested by the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) team.
- Conduct ongoing developmental assessments in line with early intervention timelines and agency policies.
- Document findings in a timely and professional manner to support collaborative decision-making.
2. Intervention
- Deliver evidence-based nutritional and feeding interventions tied directly to IFSP goals.
- Integrate intervention strategies into the child’s natural routines and environments (home, daycare, community).
- Use whole-child best practices to consider cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
- Collaborate with team members on specific challenges related to feeding and nutritional health.
3. Teaming
- Participate as a key contributor in transdisciplinary team meetings and provide 1:1 consultations.
- Partner with families and professionals to develop and implement both formal IFSPs and informal support plans.
- Participate in initial, periodic, and annual IFSP reviews for assigned children.
- Contribute to smooth transitions from Part C (early intervention) to Part B (preschool services) or other community-based supports.
- Attend and contribute to regional and internal feeding team meetings to coordinate care and share expertise.
- Apply Predictive Index insights to better understand team dynamics, enhance collaboration, and improve communication.
4. Parent & Caregiver Support
- Empower families by modeling and coaching nutrition and feeding strategies during daily routines.
- Promote confidence in caregivers and reinforce their role as the primary teachers and decision-makers.
- Practice cultural humility and tailor services to meet the linguistic and cultural needs of families.
- Uphold family rights and adhere to all procedural safeguards under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
5. Administration & Professional Development
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all services and activities, following organizational and funding requirements.
- Ensure professional licensure remains current and complete all required continuing education hours.
- Support the development and delivery of continuing education content for staff and contracted providers.
- Attend community outreach events, workshops, and relevant meetings to represent TRE and its mission.
- Drive as needed to and from homes, centers, and community settings; maintain vehicle insurance and licensing per TRE requirements.
- Other related duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of TRE.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Actively engage in professional growth by attending workshops, conferences, and relevant training based on your personal development plan.
- Participate in internal initiatives or committees to promote quality improvement and innovation.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, particularly in infants and toddlers with special needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal—with experience facilitating family and team discussions.
- Ability to use technology platforms including tablets, telehealth systems, cloud-based documentation tools, and electronic health records.
- Understanding of the Predictive Index or willingness to use behavior-based tools to improve teamwork and service delivery.
- Knowledge of community resources and systems of care available to support children and families.
- Experience
- Minimum: 3 years’ experience working with young children with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Preferred: 5 years of experience in a transdisciplinary early childhood team model; experience using specialized feeding interventions; knowledge of Part C of IDEA and natural environment service delivery.
Education and Experience Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition or Dietetics
- Registered Dietician (RD)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young children with disabilities or developmental delays
- Pediatric experience, specifically with infants and toddlers with special needs and their families
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to facilitate group meetings
- Knowledge of community resources and family support systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MA) in a related field
- Experience with specialized nutrition and feeding interventions for infants and toddlers
- Experience assessing and implementing strategies to address nutritional and feeding needs in early childhood
- Knowledge of Part C of IDEA, including natural environments, daily routines, and evaluation tools relevant to early childhood development
- Working knowledge of Medicaid Waiver programs and requirements
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Experience working in a transdisciplinary early childhood team model
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computers/tablets, Printers, Copy Machines, Personal Vehicle, Cell phones/telephone, Cloud based systems and software, etc.
Working Environment/Physical Activities: Office, community, private residences, commercial properties, and virtual environment settings. Moderate physical activity required, such as walking, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds. A working vehicle, valid CO driver’s license (unless active Military family), and minimum insurance levels ($100,000/$300,000/$100,000 liability coverage preferred) are required.
