Position Summary 

The Childcare Specialist provides dependable, safe, and nurturing care for infants through age 5 in a welcoming environment. Reporting to the Children’s Minister, the Childcare Specialist works with a team dedicated to welcoming young children and their families. Part-time Hourly, as scheduled, with a 3-hour minimum pay guaranteed per shift.

 

Essential Functions 

 

  • Maintain a safe, caring environment for children, monitoring children’s activities to ensure their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
  • Provide care including feeding, diaper changing (using universal precautions), escorting to the restroom, comforting, and engaging children through games, stories, songs, play, and prayer.
  • Greet families, check in children into the classroom; ensure they are released to an approved responsible adults.
  • Clean and sanitize toys, surfaces, and bathrooms as needed during care time and before leaving.
  • Follow outlined emergency procedures and contact the Children’s Minister and child’s parent in the event of illness, injury, or other emergencies.
  • Complete incident reports for injuries or unusual behavior and submit to the Children’s Minister.
  • Abide by the FPC Dallas Child Protection Policy and uphold professional standards of conduct and confidentiality.

Qualifications

    Qualifications 

  • Experience caring for children, particularly infants through age 5
  • Flexible and calm when working with a variety of personalities and developmental stages
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Satisfactory completion of background check and Child Protection Training
  • CPR and First Aid certified (or willingness to complete certification)
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 35 lbs., and to bend, squat, kneel, stand, sit, and walk as required
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Available for a varied schedule including Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and occasional special events as coordinated with the Children’s Minister
  • Completed coursework in Early Childhood Education is preferred
