Tribal Diagnostics is searching for a full time Lab Tech to join our Toxicology team.  This is a full-time position, working 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, five days per week. Scheduled days will vary and may include any day of the week, Sunday through Saturday.

Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Chemist - Toxicologist plays a vital role in healthcare by conducting precise toxicology tests on biological samples to identify and quantify harmful substances. They collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate and timely toxicology reports that support patient care. Upholding strict safety and quality standards, this role contributes to patient safety and advances in toxicology science.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collect, label, and handle biological specimens (urine, oral fluids) with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ensure proper storage and transportation of samples to maintain integrity.
  • Conduct toxicology tests using a variety of analytical techniques and equipment.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of drugs and their metabolites in specimens.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.
  • Follow quality control procedures and document all laboratory activities.
  • Analyze test results and prepare accurate reports for review by healthcare providers.
  • Maintain detailed records of tests performed and results obtained.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to toxicology testing.
  • Seek opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of new testing methodologies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • REQUIRED: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with MLT certification with prior toxicology experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science with MLS certification with prior toxicology experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Specialized training or certification in toxicology is highly preferred.
  • LCMS experience is highly preferred.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume testing environment.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of general, analytical and/or organic chemistry
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient with computers and technology.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn software and applications used for analysis.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move around the laboratory
  • Ability to work at a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must have steady hands and the ability to pipet
  • Exposure to various chemicals and compounds
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and ethical standards
