Job Summary: Licensed practitioners who work underneath a supervising physician to provide primary and/or specialty medical care in ambulatory and acute care settings. They have obtained specialized advanced education and clinical competency to provide health and medical care for diverse populations in a variety of primary care and acute care settings. They provide care that is personal, continuous, cost-effective and of high-quality.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Patient Care & Clinical Work

  • Meets standards of practice as outlined by the NCCPA and AAPA.
  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with other providers/specialists as needed and adjust PA care processes to ensure optimal patient care. May be responsible for coordinating health education information.
  • Identifies patient/client needs, develops quality programs, and ensures deliver of quality services to meet those needs for all patients.
  • Meets CME requirements by the end of each calendar year.
  • Prescribes or recommends prescriptions for medication and other treatments according to established federal and state requirements.
  • Performs, orders, and evaluates results of lab, x-ray, and diagnostic tests as indicated.
  • Provides coverage for other providers’ patients when a provider is unavailable.
  • Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development to keep abreast of the latest trends in family medicine.
  • Be a contributing member of the team in assisting in the efficiency of the workflow and in the education of the Physician Assistant students.
  • Participates in problem solving teams or provides suggestions to management to improve overall quantity/quality of care and day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative working relationship with supervising physician.
  • Assists with provider coverage when applicable.
  • Maintains accurate and legible medical records.
  • Assure positive communications with the medical assistants, physicians, patients and families
  • Completes documentation within 48 hours of Date of Service per COPIC guidelines
  • Attends PCP task forces and meetings as assigned or invited
  • Work closely with Back Office Staff & Supervisor to ensure all patient needs are met, tasks are completed in a timely manner, and that the clinic runs in an efficient and patient centered manner

 

Work Experience:

 

Must be a Physician Assistant who is capable of working in any medical environment. Previous medical office experience preferred.

 

Education Requirements:

 

Graduate of appropriate academic program and have appropriate degree. Maintain appropriate state and national licensure. Attend Continuing Education programs as requested or as required by the position.

General Requirements:

Qualifications
