     Wage Range:

        $26.15 - $30.15 per hour based on experience & certs      

 

 

 

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

The CNC Operator reports to the Plant Manager/ Shift Supervisor and will provide support in programming, setting up, and operating the computer numerical control (CNC) machine in support of manufacturing operations, specifically for the Mass Plywood Plant.  The CNC Operator will maintain quality and safety standards pertinent to this machine center and maintain records for equipment supplies.

 

This position will train on day shift, but may move to swing shift, once training completed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Programs CNC machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up CNC machine components by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; trimming heads.
  • Loads panels to be processed onto CNC table via overhead cranes.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Regular Attendance and Punctuality
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other branches within reasonable and related tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Standing for an extended period of time on concrete
  • Up and down stairs and on and off machinery
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, or hear.
  • Exposed to varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with controls & large instrumentation
  • Ability to operate a crane & forklift, preferred, but not required
  • Able to maintain strict control over customer data files and revisions
  • Must have and demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Must have and demonstrate a highly effective attention to details
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple logistics and other software programs including email, spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
  • Must have positive and effective interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well with others. Excellent team player.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills and math skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365
  • 2+yrs of related work experience
  • Overhead crane experience preferred
