Mission Driven Finance® uses finance as a tool for change. We’re all about mobilizing capital that will increase inclusive and equitable access to education, health, and wealth, and there are a lot of awesome things happening to achieve our mission. As our fully remote/distributed team continues to expand, we’re always looking for ways (and people!) to help us grow.

Who should apply

We're in search of a strategic leader to join our team as the Assistant Vice President, External Affairs (AVP, External Affairs). As the AVP, External Affairs, you will be the the operational leader of our External Affairs function and serve as a key partner to our Co-Founder & Chief Community Officer (CCO) to bring coherence, structure, and intention to MDF’s interactions with capital providers, ecosystem partners, community allies, and public agencies. We believe everything runs on relationships—and that the best relationships are multi-dimensional and change over time. That belief drives how we design funds, engage partners, and tell our story.

Your role as AVP, External Affairs is to be the backbone of our stakeholder engagement strategy, orchestrating the small but mighty external affairs and business development team and vendors to create compelling narrative arcs and nurture key partnerships in service of an inclusive, robust economy. We’re looking for someone who is equal parts conductor, strategist, relationship architect, and operator—someone who understands the big picture and the moving pieces, can build and run systems that enhance overlapping relationships, drive team performance, and ensure MDF’s voice resonates in the impact finance landscape.

As the AVP, External Affairs, you will lead and guide internal teams and external resources to focus on the most effective, scalable activities and relationships. While you won't be doing everything yourself, you're not operating entirely at arms-length either. Your key to greatness is knowing when to delegate, when to collaborate, and when to dive deep personally. You take pride in building and maintaining systems that empower a team to thoughtfully consider inherently overlapping relationships across multiple funds and products, and act decisively.
