The Plex is your premier destination for family fun, event planning, sports, dining, parties, and more. Our 3 operating businesses (The Plex Athletic Club, Sports, and Food & Beverage) offers 240,000 square feet of entertainment space under one roof where you will find everything you need for fun, fitness, family activities, food & beverage, parties, and social events. Open 7-days a week, our facility offers an arcade of games, bocce ball, bouncy houses, wall climbing, cornhole, darts, pizza, sushi, tapas, a vast beer wall and so much more.
We are seeking a hands-on, bilingual Working Lead Porter working to join our facilities team. This non-exempt part time (up to 25 weekly hours) position supports day-to-day cleaning operations while helping guide the porter team by example. You’ll ensure assigned areas are spotless, well-stocked, and fully operational—and help make sure the right people are in the right place at the right time when coverage needs arise.
This is not a desk job—this is a working lead role, perfect for someone who takes pride in both doing the work and supporting others to do it well.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Perform and lead daily cleaning duties: dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing surfaces according to The Plex’s cleanliness standards.
-
Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and other high-traffic areas.
-
Empty trash, manage recyclables, and maintain overall cleanliness of designated spaces.
-
Ensure porter equipment, supplies, and chemicals are used and stored safely and in accordance with SDS guidelines.
-
Assist with minor repairs and promptly report maintenance or safety issues.
-
Help bus tables and support cleanup in the restaurant area and event spaces as needed.
-
Provide excellent member service—be visible, greet guests, and offer assistance when needed.
-
Follow porter duty checklists and help ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and on schedule.
-
Assist the Porter Supervisor with coordinating daily work assignments and helping find shift coverage for call-outs, under management direction.
-
Report incidents, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Porter Supervisor or Facilities Manager.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Knowledge of professional cleaning techniques and sanitation standards.
-
Ability to use and maintain cleaning tools, machines, and materials safely.
-
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
-
Clear communicator and team player with a service-first mindset.
-
Comfortable supporting and helping coordinate day-to-day task flow.
-
Must be fluent in both English and Spanish to support effective communication with staff and members.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
1–3 years of experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or custodial roles preferred.
-
Prior experience in a lead or support role is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to walk, stand, bend, and stretch for extended periods.
-
Must be able to push/pull carts and lift up to 30 pounds.
-
Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
