Description of Position:
Medical Personnel of Serenity Hills are responsible for all medical aspects of the detoxification day-to-day operation; and the health and medical aspects of the Halfway House Program as indicated. They serve a primary role in the care of clients in detoxification; and a secondary role in the care of clients in the Halfway House Program.
Position Details:
Part Time: 20 hours per week
Shift: Evenings/Overnights/Weekends
Pay Range: $17- $22
Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
A. Provide medical admission assessments on clients entering the Detoxification and Halfway House Programs.
B. Provides orientation to the clients as indicated.
C. Monitors client condition through observation, administering tests, and continuing medical assessments.
D. Administers or assists the client in administering medication per physician’s orders.
E. Provides psychological interventions with clients in both the Detoxification and Halfway House Programs as indicated. Responds to crises in a task-oriented, calm, and effective manner.
F. Monitors, supervises, and enforces client conformity to daily schedules in both the Detoxification and Halfway House Programs.
G. Provides discharge and aftercare planning.
H. Provides education on health and nutrition to Halfway House and Detoxification clients.
I. Provides medical interventions as needed.
J. Regularly monitors the environment of Serenity Hills and takes immediate corrective action to ensure that safety and health standards are maintained. This includes removing from client access all possible inhalant items, mood-altering substance, unnecessary objects that could, either intentionally or accidentally, cause physical injury to self or others (razor blades, knives, etc.). This also includes monitoring, practicing, and enforcing basic fire safety precautions.
K. It is recognized that because Serenity Hills is a free standing facility and does not have the benefit of on-site support services, each employee will at various times, provide a number of services not traditionally associated with their job titles. These include assisting in meal preparation, typing, collecting money for payment of services, janitorial duties, filing, management of the medical case record, purchasing, quality assurance, and laundry.
L. Other duties as assigned consistent with non-exempt functions.
Physical Requirements
Required to sit for long periods of time. Infrequent light physical effort required lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. rarely. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. Employee may be required to work extended periods of time at a computer monitor. Must be able to drive vehicle occasionally.
