Job Title: Upholstery Setup Technician (Seating Manufacturing) 

Location: High Point, North Carolina 

Job Summary: 

DARRAN, a leading manufacturer of high-quality furniture located in High Point, NC, is seeking a skilled and versatile Upholstery Setup Technician to join our Seating Manufacturing Plant. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing furniture frames for upholstery by installing webbing and spring systems, as well as performing setup tasks within the upholstery department to ensure efficient and high-quality production of our seating products. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Webbing and Spring System Installation:  

  • Receive and inspect furniture frames to ensure they meet quality standards and are ready for web up and spring up processes. 

  • Interpret work orders and specifications to determine the correct placement and configuration of webbing and springs. 

  • Measure and cut webbing to the required lengths. 

  • Utilize hand tools and pneumatic staple guns to securely attach webbing to the furniture frames, ensuring proper tension and spacing. 

  • Apply knowledge of different webbing types and their appropriate applications. 

  • Position and secure springs to the frames according to specified patterns and densities. 

  • Utilize spring clips, ties, and other fastening materials to ensure springs are properly supported and will provide optimal comfort and durability. 

  • May involve hand-tying springs in some applications. 

  • Inspect completed web and spring systems to ensure they are correctly installed, secure, and meet quality standards. 

  • Upholstery Setup Duties:  

  • Review work orders and gather necessary materials (fabric, leather, vinyl, welts, etc.) for upcoming upholstery tasks. 

  • Prepare workstations with required tools, equipment (e.g., staple guns, sewing machines), and materials to ensure efficient workflow for upholsterers. 

  • Organize and stage materials in a manner that is easily accessible to the upholstery team. 

  • Assist in the setup and adjustment of upholstery machinery as needed. 

  • Ensure that the correct patterns and templates are available for each upholstery job. 

  • Communicate with upholsterers regarding material availability and any specific setup requirements. 

  • Maintain a clean and organized upholstery setup area. 

  • Quality Control and Safety:  

  • Ensure that all web up, spring up, and setup tasks are performed to meet DARRAN’s quality standards. 

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. 

  • Maintain and safely operate all necessary hand tools and pneumatic equipment. 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience in web up and spring up for furniture manufacturing, preferably in seating. 

  • Familiarity with basic upholstery processes and materials. 

  • Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., webbing stretchers, pliers) and pneumatic staple guns safely and effectively. 

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and specifications accurately. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. 

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage materials efficiently. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Good communication skills. 

  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. 

  • Ability to lift and manipulate furniture frames and materials. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand for extended periods. 

  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach. 

  • Ability to use hand tools and pneumatic equipment. 

  • Ability to lift and manipulate furniture frames and materials. 

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
