We are seeking a Senior Graphic Book Designer to join our dynamic creative team and help shape the visual identity of our books and brand.


Position Summary

As a Senior Graphic Book Designer, you will be instrumental in producing visually compelling and brand-aligned design materials that elevate our authors' messages and engage our readers. You’ll collaborate across departments—including Marketing, Editorial, and Author teams—to create captivating book covers and interiors, promotional campaigns, and digital assets that reflect the heart of our mission and creativity. You will also be a vital team player, actively supporting and collaborating with fellow creatives to foster a cohesive and innovative design environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design innovative and captivating book covers and interiors that reflect the author’s vision and resonate with readers. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to produce promotional materials including marketing collateral, digital ads, and social media assets. 
  • Ensure brand consistency across all visual content for both David C Cook and individual book series/authors. 
  • Proactively collaborate with internal teams and authors to translate creative briefs into compelling visuals. 
  • Stay current with design trends and adapt styles to reach diverse audiences within the publishing landscape. 
  • Assist in building creative briefs, brand guides, and presentations related to book design. 
  • Provide mentorship to junior designers and contribute to a culture of creativity. 
  • Support the Creative Director in managing freelance designers as needed. 
  • Participate in special projects and contribute positively to team dynamics. 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • Candidates should ideally possess 5+ years of professional book design experience, with a background in the publishing industry being highly preferred (Christian publishing experience is a plus). 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). 
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of book design work, including covers and interior layouts. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and self-screen work. 
  • Passion for books, storytelling, and visual communication aligned with David C Cook's mission. 
  • Familiarity with Mac computers and general office equipment. 
  • Some travel required. 
  • Must work in our Colorado Springs, CO office.
