Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Maintenance Manager
General Summary:
Assist with duties of inspecting, diagnose and remedy all maintenance-related issues at DoubleTree. Execute all general commercial maintenance procedures while maintaining an emphasis on quality and preventative maintenance. Repair and maintain properties by company standards for quality, cleanliness, customer satisfaction, safety, and security.
Essential Functions:
- Adhering to the hotel’s preventative maintenance program.
- Assisting with grounds keeping and maintaining a clean, kept appearance of the hotel exterior.
- Assisting with special projects and renovations when needed.
- Performing routine maintenance throughout the property, including painting, carpet/floor cleaning, etc.
- Performs minor repairs and/or replacements of room furniture, fixtures, and equipment to include light fixtures, etc.
- Drives the hotel shuttle when the Front Desk Agents are unavailable to do so. May occasionally have to drive the 25-passenger bus.
- Must have or be able to obtain Class C CDL.
- Other duties as directed by hotel managers.
Supporting Functions:
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:
- Assist with special projects and renovations when needed
- Resolve minor maintenance issues quickly and effectively
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees
- Other duties as assigned by management
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Working knowledge of motors, switches, and other electrical components
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Working knowledge of plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical and general maintenance procedures
- Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Basic working knowledge of plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, and general repair skills
Qualification Standards
Communication:
Strong communication skills. The ability to deal effectively with vastly diverse groups of people and hotel guests.
Education:
Required: Any combination of education and experience equivalent provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience:
Required: General Maintenance
Preferred: Major appliances, painting/ plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general carpentry.
Certification:
Required: Valid driver’s license and insurance
Preferred: HVAC, EPA certificates for Freon recycling.
Equipment:
Position requires individuals to be able to use general maintenance equipment including, but not limited to, hand tools, ladders, Freon recovery units, landscaping equipment, and required safety equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to reach by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
- Ability to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
- Ability to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, the use of small repair tools
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 140 pounds with assistance
- Ability to periodically bend, kneel, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks
- Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
- Ability to see within normal parameters
- Ability to hear within a normal range
- Ability to move about
