Job Title: Pest Control Technician
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: VP of Commercial Maintenance
General Summary:
A Pest Control Technician complies with safety and environmental regulations, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring high service standards.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to pest control treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Comply with safe and effective pest control techniques.
- Maintain client relationships and handle service issues.
- Address inventory, supplies, and equipment needs.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate service records.
- Knowledge of common pests (insects, rodents, birds, etc.) and their life cycles.
- Understanding pest behavior, habitats, and signs of infestation.
- Ability to accurately identify pests for targeted treatment.
Supporting Functions:
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:
- Assist with special projects when needed
- Resolve minor issues quickly and effectively
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees
- Other duties as assigned by management
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal pest control regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
- Understanding of pesticide licensing and certification requirements.
- Familiarity with proper pesticide storage, handling, and disposal procedures.
- Knowledge of safety procedures for chemical handling and equipment use.
- Ability to implement workplace safety programs and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Understanding of environmental impact and public health considerations.
Qualification Standards
Communication:
- Strong communication skills are needed.
- Ability to convey information and ideas.
- Ability to deal effectively with vastly diverse groups of people
Experience:
Preferred: Previous 1 year if experience as a technician
Licenses or Certificates:
Required: Valid Driver’s License
Required: IDPH certification, IDOA as needed to perform job duties
Grooming:
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance including hair color.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to reach by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
- Ability to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
- Ability to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, the use of small tools, nozzles, containers and hoses.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to periodically bend, kneel, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks
- Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
- Ability to fit into tight or confined spaces
- Ability to see within normal parameters
- Ability to hear within a normal range
- Ability to move about
- Must have the physical ability to maintain balance, climb safely, and carry supplies or materials while ensuring three points of contact at all times while using a ladder.
