Job Title: IT System Engineer                                              

Department: IT

Reports To: Operations Manager

 

 

General Summary:

Brick Technology Group (BTG) is a fully managed IT, cybersecurity, and VoIP service provider dedicated to helping our clients build secure, reliable, and scalable technology environments. We partner with small and mid-sized businesses to deliver proactive IT solutions that protect data, streamline operations, and enable growth. 

 

Hours of operation Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

 

         Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical support to end users
  • Serve on the escalation path for client support 
  • Responsible for triaging, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues across a wide range of systems, applications, and environments
  • Maintain backend systems
  • Systems Engineers will also be responsible for maintaining backend systems and providing proactive maintenance to client infrastructures

 

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  • All other tasks as assigned by supervisor not listed as essential functions

  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
  • Ability to write, review and update technical documentation

 

 

Qualification Standards

      Communication:

Strong communication skills.  The ability to deal effectively with vastly diverse groups of people.    

Education:

 Required: Any combination of education and experience equivalent provides the required  

 knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Computer Skills:

 Networking (Firewall, Switching, VLANs) 

 Windows Server 

 Linux 

 Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMWare) 

 Security (EDR, ITDR, ZTNA, etc.) 

 VoIP 

 Data Recovery 

 Managed Email (365 and Workspace) 

 macOS

Experience:

 Required: 5+ years of IT support experience, ideally in a managed services or multi-client environment, or an Associate's Degree in a computer science-related field with 3+ years of experience

 Preferred: CompTIA A+, CompTIA NETWORK+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent certifications and experience

Certification:

 Required: Valid driver’s license

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Ability to reach by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Ability to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
  • Ability to manipulate objects with fingers for example, the use of small repair tools, cables, computer equipment
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 140 pounds with assistance 
  • Ability to periodically bend, kneel, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks
  • Must have the physical ability to maintain balance, climb safely, and carry materials while ensuring three points of contact at all times while using a ladder.
  • Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within a normal range
  • Ability to move about
