About the Role: Bachelor Mental Health Counselor – Early Childhood Consultation

The Early Childhood Consultation team at North Range Behavioral Health provides evidence-based, compassionate support to promote healthy social and emotional development and mental health for young children and their caregivers.

This is a unique position that provides Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) consultative support as well as interventions. The ECMH consultant works collaboratively with the Early Childhood Education staff, programs, and families to improve their ability to prevent, identify, treat, and reduce the impact of mental health challenges among children from birth to eight years of age. Ultimately, early childhood mental health consultation seeks to achieve positive outcomes for infants and young children in early childhood settings by using an indirect approach to fostering their social and emotional well-being. The ECMH consultation team works primarily in community, childcare centers, and home settings, supporting the adult caregivers of young children.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide services to clients as assigned by the administrative/clinical supervisor. May work with a specific age group and/or level of care based on program assignment.
- Provide person-centered assessment, goal planning, and treatment for mental health issues.
- Provide screen, intakes, and assessment of clients utilizing required instruments and formats within appropriate timelines.
- Develop strength-based written treatment plans/updates and continuing care plans make appropriate referrals. Complete written discharge summaries and correspondence within established timelines.
- Assess diagnosis and mental status of clients, evaluate current level of functioning, and develop and implement treatment \/service plan to address clients’ needs.
- Assist individuals in improving their well-being and quality of life by utilizing therapeutic interventions, training in behavioral skills, educating clients to make informed choices, developing clients’ coping skills, and helping clients to solve problems and negotiate tasks of daily living.
- Maintain electronic health records in accordance with agency standards; confirm coding of services rendered is ethically appropriate and results in successful billing. May include entry into a partnering agency's electronic health system.
- Facilitate counseling groups as assigned. May provide intake, inpatient admissions, and Medicaid authorizations in some programs.
- Attend staff meetings, clinical supervision, and other meetings as assigned.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required.
- Individuals who are actively in or applying to graduate school are preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurability requirements.
- Successful completion of background, fingerprinting, and drug testing
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.

Experience:

- One year of experience working with individuals with mental health disorder challenges.
- Experience in coordinating behavioral health intervention plans and services with other agencies preferred.
