POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct supervision of a group of children before and after school and in seasonal day camps. Â Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises a group of children.
- Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Adheres to association and position training requirements.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Works various hours and locations to meet association needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Transports children in a company vehicle to and from school and other activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age, and be a High school graduate or GED; one year or more of college preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver record check.
- Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp or school setting preferred.
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Must submit to and expect to pass a licensing finger print background check.
- Must possess within 30 days of hire CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Child Abuse Prevention, and Food Handlers training within 30 days of hire date.
- Food Handlers Card must be provided at the time of hire.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver record check.
