Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Environmental Studies, Youth Development, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.

Minimum 3 years of experience in camp management, outdoor education, or youth program coordination.

Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing youth programs.
-
Experience with program logistics, scheduling, and risk management in outdoor or residential settings.
-
Customer service or family communication experience strongly preferred.
-
Current CPR and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start).
-
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification is strongly preferred.

Valid driver’s license and ability to drive 15-passenger vans (or willingness to complete training).

Additional certifications (lifeguarding, ropes course facilitation, etc.) a plus.
Physical RequirementsÂ

Dexterity, auditory and visual acuity to operate computers and phones or mobile devices.

Auditory and visual acuity to interact with guests, sponsors, donors and clients on a daily basis.

Ability to work in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions, including high altitude, heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Capable of leading and participating in physical activities such as hiking up to 8–10 miles, carrying up to 40 lbs, and standing or moving for extended periods of time.

Comfortable working in both indoor office settings and outdoor field environments on a daily basis.

Ability to drive school vehicles, including 15-passenger vans, and transport program equipment as needed.

Work Schedule and Environment
From September through May, this position primarily works in an open office environment, generally following a 9:00AM to 5:00PM schedule with flexibility for events or business needs. Keystone Science School offers a hybrid work model during this time, requiring in-office presence on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the option to work remotely up to two days between Wednesday and Friday.
From June through August, the role shifts to being campus-based and outdoors-focused, operating on a Monday through Saturday schedule. During the summer season, work hours are significantly longer, with an expectation of 60+ hours per week to support camp operations.
