GRAPHICS TECHNICIAN

Job Summary: 

Graphic technician must be proficient in creating print-ready files, combining artistic flair with technical expertise to ensure top-quality outputs. Adept at using industry-standard design software (Adobe/Esko) and staying up-to-date with the latest design trends, and eye for detail and committed to delivering exceptional work. This position focuses mainly on the pre-press side of graphics.

Duties/ Responsibilities: 

• Detailed proofreading and adjusting provided art files to our press requirements 

• Very detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects, and prioritize according to scheduling and production needs. 

• Responsible for monitoring processes, following SOPs, and working with the entire team to reduce downtime and prioritize our customer’s needs. 

• The ability to understand and interpret production sheets, and press requirements for all press platforms 

• Basic understanding of flexographic and digital press principles including but not limited to; requirements for wind direction, number across and around, and distortion. 

• Receives and adjusts artwork to production order requirements including but not limited to: trapping, color breaks, file editing, fonts, die lines, bleeds, gaps 

• Very little creative work, we are taking provided art files and adjusting them to adhere to our production processes. 

• Responsible for and works closely with Customer Service and Production to ensure we are meeting the customer’s expectations and providing accurate files and plates for production. 

• Produces Contract Proofs for customer approval using color calibrated wide format Epson Printers, & Color Laser printer 

• Production of quality image production plates that accurately reflect production order and customer requirements  

• Adherence to Hub Labels safety rules and regulations, this includes wearing steel toed shoes and other PPE protection when out in the pressroom.

Education & Experience: 

Associates Degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent job-related experience  

Proficient in Macintosh/Apple technology 

Proficient in, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat software, Indesign knowledge is a plus 

Previous experience in the printing industry is desired 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Printing color and hard copy proofs, also going into the pressroom to review and sign off on jobs. The ability to see details at close range 

The work environment is that of a clerical, office setting. There may be occasional exposure to manufacturing environment with levels of moderate exposure to heat or cold, as well as exposure to moderate noise levels, moving equipment and other general manufacturing hazards.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Preferred Education & Experience:
Associates Degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent job related experience
Proficient in Macintosh/Apple technology
The ability to effectively use and navigate Adobe Creative Suite, Esko Software, Prinect Software
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Outlook, Excel)
Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Photoshop and Acrobat software
Preferred experience with Esko, Prinect, X-Rite Color Printer calibration software
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role. Occasional printing and filing required, this would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, retrieve printed documents and cut large sheets or paper. The ability to see details at close range.
