GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

 

The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him.  In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community.  In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people).  He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in Associated Catholic Cemeteries helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:

 

Responsible for the overall administration of Gethsemane and St. Patrick Cemeteries to ensure that the cemeteries’ operations follow the teachings of the Catholic Church and are in adherence to local industry standards. The incumbent is also responsible for the sales and marketing efforts at Gethsemane and St. Patrick Cemetery by supervising existing staff, implementing a parish based sales program using existing ACC parameters as well as other opportunities for community outreach, and for personal sales.

 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

Operations Leadership

    • Direct and manage the daily operations at Gethsemane and St. Patrick’s cemeteries
    • Coordinate and oversee all interment services, ensuring accuracy, reverence, and timeliness
    • Ensure the cemeteries remain safe, clean, and presentable at all times

 

Customer Service & Family Care

    • Lead a culture of compassionate, mission-driven service excellence
    • Personally serve as a representative of ACC during committal services as needed
    • Ensure every family encounter reflects the dignity and comfort of the Catholic faith

 

Sales Oversight

    • Supervise and coach Family Service Advisors at assigned locations
    • Monitor sales productivity, hold team accountable to performance goals
    • Collaborate with the Director of Pre-Planning & Outreach to implement sales and outreach strategies

 

Staff Supervision

    • Provide day-to-day direction and support to administrative and grounds staff
    • Conduct staff scheduling, training, performance feedback, and development
    • Build a collaborative team environment that upholds ACC’s values

 

Budgeting & Financial Stewardship

    • Prepare and manage the operational budget for both cemetery locations
    • Monitor expenses, payroll, and supply inventory
    • Ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals

 

Compliance & Collaboration

    • Ensure compliance with ACC policies, safety procedures, and local/state regulations
    • Partner with other cemetery superintendents and ACC departments to ensure consistent service delivery and cross-location support

 

Professional Development & Representation

  • Attend cemetery and funeral industry conferences, trainings, and workshops as appropriate
  • Represent ACC with professionalism and integrity in all public and peer interactions
  • Stay informed on best practices, trends, and regulatory updates in Catholic and industry standards

Qualifications

  1. Primary: 

 

  1. Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
  2. Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
  3. Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Church.

 

  1. Education:

 

  1. BA/BS degree.

 

  1. Experience:

 

  1. 5+ years of supervisory experience in operations, facilities management, or cemetery/funeral services
  2. Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage diverse teams
  3. High level of empathy, discretion, and professionalism in working with grieving families
  4. Understanding of or willingness to learn Catholic burial rites and traditions
  5. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  6. Experience managing budgets and operational metrics
  7. Comfortable working both in the office and in outdoor environments
  8. Proficient with technology; experience with cemetery management systems (e.g., PlotBox) preferred
  9. Valid WA driver’s license and ability to travel between cemetery locations
  1. Other Elements:

 

  1. Understanding of vocation and ability to develop and administer policies accordingly.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, courtesy and diplomacy
  3. Coordinating and supervising a variety of diverse activities concurrently.
  4. First Aid/CPR certification.
  5. Valid Washington State driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  6. Personal vehicle.

 

 

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
